Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) update  (17/04/20)

We have now received two deliveries of PPE from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) via the Ministry of Defence (MOD) on the 7th and 14th April.  It is now recommended that care workers should wear PPE for ‘all’ care provision (within 2 metres), and not as previously recommended –  when there are symptoms or confirmed cases of COVID-19.  Our estimated usage will need to be reviewed to reflect this and we are expecting additional deliveries of PPE in the near future.

Here is our latest update:

As of today (17 April) we have received 225,040 items of PPE from the MHCLG, and we have purchased 1,459,274 items of PPE.
540,168 items of PPE have distributed by us to our key workers.
In addition to the MHCLG deliveries it is also important for us to continue to purchase PPE, particularly in light of the changes to national guidance.
Key workers receiving PPE include: Adults and Childrens Social Care, Care Providers including Care Homes, Home Care, Care4CE and Personal Assistants employed by individuals receiving Direct Payments, Schools, Early Years, Youth Justice System, Housing, ICT, ANSA, Orbitas, and Funeral Services.
